we took a private tour to chiang rai from "bon voyage thailand" (https://www.bonvoyagethailand.com/)
we're going to try the typical itinerary for a one day tour from chiang mai to chiang rai:
white temple - blue temple - karen long neck village - golden triangle - boat trip along the mekong river to laos

it takes 3-hour drive from chiang mai to white temple.
start from our hotel (The Opium Chiang Mai) at 7am

pit stop at 9.15am at cafe amazon somewhere between chiang mai and chiang rai.

after a huge cup of the sweet sweet coffee, we're ready to explore chiang rai!

9.57am
arriving at the famous white temple (wat rong khun). it's sooooo beautiful. the white temple with the clear blue sky as the background. breathtaking!

our guide said that the restroom at the white temple complex is the most beautiful restroom in thailand!  :P
the toilets are in this gold building:

for more pictures of the white temple and the blue temple, please see: https://ritaaza.blogspot.com/2020/06/year-end-trip-to-thailand-white-temple.html

11.40am
the blue temple (wat rong suea ten)

12.08pm
lunch at 'bike coffee & bike food' just outside the entrance of the blue temple

1.17pm
'long neck' karen hill tribe village

2.33pm
golden triangle viewpoint of thailand, laos, and myanmar
mekong river boat tour (15 minutes one way) to don sao island in laos

there's nothing interesting on the island. there're many stalls that sells souvenirs and bags and clothes. I think for a first-timer like me (first time visiting chiang mai and chiang rai), this is one of the must-visit place :P
even though there's nothing interesting on the island, u must visit and take a picture of this laos sign. haha

this is the end of the tour
it took more than 4-hour drive from the golden triangle view point area back to our hotel in chiang mai.

overall, it's a fun tour. the guide (deni) is very passionate and very happy :D
my highlight of the day is definitely the white temple. I think it's soooo beautiful.
