Day 7

We started a little bit late, at 9.30am. Today we’re visiting the beautiful old church at Sikka (one hour ride from the city). 

Later on, after admiring the beautiful church, we found ourselves surrounded by many many ‘’ibu-ibu’’ doing hard sell on us. They were trying to sell woven scarfs and sarongs in a very very persistent, aggressive and annoying way. Really, we cannot choose freely because they keep approaching and handing us their scarfs or sarongs. Annoying.

But still, we ended up buying some. So I guess the hard selling works, right? :D

Back to the city, we went to two souvenir shops: Pusat Oleh-Oleh and Kampung Kabor.

For our last dinner at maumere, Dino Lopez (a well-known Flores guide) invited us to his home. We were treated with delicious home-made local food. It was a great night, when good food meets great local people.

Tomorrow we will be going back to Kupang and continue our journey home to Jakarta.

Overall, a very nice trip exploring half of Flores. By visiting Maumere and Larantuka, I think I’ve ticked off all the major towns in Flores, from the famous Labuan Bajo to Larantuka. Still the more reason to visit Flores yet again... to explore the less-travelled spots.

Flores, we will meet again in the future : )
