Tumbak Island, North Sulawesi

Day 1

Early morning flight from Jakarta to Manado. Arrived at Sam Ratulangi Airport at around 10.30am. Grab something to eat and then continue straight to Tumbak. It’s a 3-hour drive. After lunch at Yoan’s house, we went to Tumbak Island Cottage by boat. It only took us approximately 10 minutes. After a few minutes rest, we went to the nearby pantai pasir putih and went snorkeling.

Tumbak Island Cottage in Bohanga Island (yes, the name is Tumbak Island Cottage yet it’s located at Bohanga island) only have 2 rooms. Electricity is generated using solar panel. When we visited, on late December, the nighttime was not too hot. But unfortunately, there were many many mosquitoes.

Day 2

Started at 7am to pulau baling baling. Went to the top of the small island, it was a very steep climb. And then we went snorkeling until around 11.30am. Had lunch at the cottage. My friends continues with their 2-hour nap. I instead choose to relax in the front porch of the cottage, enjoying the sea breeze while trying to concentrate on my reading. Loved that ‘’me time’’ moment.

At 3pm, we went on a short trekking trip at Tumbak Island and ended the day at the cottage watching the sunset creating beautiful colors in the sky.

Day 3

Time to leave Tumbak and head to Tomohon. Had lunch at Tumou Tou, Danau Tondano. Later I realized that this was the same restaurant I visited back in 2010. After lunch, had coffee at Rumah Kopi Gembira and then visited Danau Linow. The rain poured down on us while we were at Danau Linow. Well what do you expect? It’s December. Went back to Tomohon afterwards, to taste delicious duren. Love it!

We took a few pictures at Tinoor, had dinner at Green Garden Restaurant and then spend the night at Happy Flower Resort.

Day 4

Extreme Market at Tomohon. Bukit Doa Tomohon. Citraland. Merciful Souvenir Shop. Nasi Kuning Saroja. Gereja Sentrum. Klenteng Ban Hing Kiong. Rumah Kopi Tikala. Grand Kawanua International City.

Rita’s favorit place throughout the trip: Bukit Doa Tomohon and Rumah Kopi Tikala. The owner of Rumah Kopi Tikala is very friendly and hillarious. Me likey!
