3 days @ pontianak

Tugu Khatulistiwa
Jl. Khatulistiwa No.23
Pontianak

It seems like they're trying to upgrade the site with souvenir shops, fun objects to take pictures with, floating coffee shop, and even a fancy promenade. I don't know what exactly happened. Is it still in progress? Or is the project stopped? It surely was a bit messy.

well I think this is the main attraction of pontianak yet it's very unfortunate that they can't give a better experience to the tourist (be it local tourist or foreign tourist) who came all the way to pontianak to see this site.
when we visited the place, they even cannot produce the "certificate of equator crossing" which states that we're at the zero degrees latitude (this is one of the gimmick they use to promote tugu khatulistiwa), because the guy who can print the thing is absent that day. hmm..

well, this is very typical of indonesian tourism.. lack of consistency when it comes to the implementation. sigh..

planetarium? promenade? floating market?

the master plan?

My first visit to tugu khatulistiwa was in 2011 -->  http://ritaaza.blogspot.com/2011/08/ketapang-west-borneo.html
